Modernhaus, brought to life by The Union Group and head mixologist Mirwansyah “Bule,” is a cocktail bar nestled above Bouchon in Senopati, SCBD, Jakarta. The name blends "modern" with "haus" (Indonesian slang for thirsty), while the space itself feels like a welcoming mid‑century living room. Furnished with communal island tables, plush chairs, lamps, and thoughtful refurbished pieces from CASA Kemang, it’s intimate, warm, and intentionally unpretentious. The cocktail program is built around botanical elements, with drinks categorized into roots, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Highlight cocktails include the umami-rich Tomato (Tabasco-infused whiskey, wasabi spirit, tomato consommé, fennel) and the fresh, leafy Pohpohan (juniper-mint liqueur, limeade cordial, champagne lactic). Bule’s plant-forward, zero-waste philosophy means ingredients are locally sourced and stretched: flower-infused Pisco for Kenanga, turmeric gin fizz, even celery martinis with MSG and celery oil. The atmosphere is kept relaxed—no DJ, low-volume playlist, and minimal standing room—encouraging guests to settle in like they would at home. Snacks include shareable bar bites from cheese puffs to roast chicken with foie gras butter rice. Since its opening in mid‑2024, Modernhaus has earned acclaim, ranking as Indonesia’s top bar in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025.
