Tiki Tatsu-Ya, opened in late 2021 by the acclaimed Tatsu-Ya restaurant group, is a fully immersive tiki bar that transports guests to a fantastical island paradise. Hidden behind a faux travel agency façade on South Lamar, the entrance leads to a two-level wonderland: the subterranean “Cave” with a towering Shisa dragon fountain and nautical relics, and the upstairs “Nest,” a tranquil beach house-inspired lounge bathed in sunset hues. The cocktail program is a masterclass in tiki mixology, featuring reimagined classics like the Mai Tai with miso-almond orgeat, the Zombie with a quartet of rums, and the vibrant “Stranded on Saturn” served in custom mugs. Large-format drinks like the “Rum Barrel” and “Skeleton Cruise” come with dramatic presentations, including fog effects and soundscapes. Complementing the drinks is a menu of island-inspired small plates, such as Spam Musubi, Taro Tots with fermented coconut ranch, and the indulgent Pu Pu Platter featuring BBQ beef skewers, mochiko wings, yokozuna ribs, and crab lagoon. Reservations are highly recommended due to the venue's popularity, but limited walk-in spots are available. Guests must be 21 or older to enter.
