Black Angel’s Bar
Hidden in the Gothic cellar of Hotel U Prince on Prague’s Old Town Square, Black Angel’s Bar is a cinematic homage to 1930s “public houses,” when intoxicating spirits were forbidden. Beneath the glowing chandeliers and exposed stone masonry, it’s as if time slows—immersing you in a black-and-white film atmosphere straight out of a noir classic. Founded in 2009 by hotel manager Pavel “Pavka” Šíma, with design consultation from Zdeněk Kaštánek (of 28 Hong Kong Street fame), the bar brings to life the sketches and notes of 20th-century bohemian bartender legend Alois Krcha. Each cocktail reads like a revived story—such as the Alois Becher‑Cobbler, blending vermouth with the Czech liqueur Becherovka, or the quartet of classics served in handcrafted Moser glassware, including an oak‑aged Negroni or Vieux Carré. Distinguished by its accolades—regularly ranked among the world’s Top 10 Hotel Bars at Tales of the Cocktail—Black Angel’s thrives on details, from the prohibition-era rules (smart casual dress, no photography, seat required) to the polished, deliberate service. Whether you're sipping a cocktail named for historical figures or hiding away from the Prague bustle, Black Angel’s delivers an immersive, elegant experience in the heart of the city.
