The Compass Bar by Curator
High above Shenzhen in the Huanggang Business Center, The Compass Bar by Curator once operated as a refined cocktail destination and mixology showcase, combining global and Chinese spirit influences in a stylish lounge setting. The bar occupied Suite 4002 on the 40th floor of the Wongtee V Hotel / Huanggang Business Center (also called “皇庭V酒店 / 皇岗商务中心”) at 2028 Jintian Road, Futian District. Its interior followed a “classic lounge meets modern elegance” palette: wood, leather seating, subtle lighting, and high ceilings, allowing views over the city as night falls. The bar was known for blending baijiu with cocktail techniques, especially during World Baijiu Day events, where the bar presented baijiu-based riffs on classic cocktails (Baijiu Sour, Baijiu Mary, etc.). In its heyday, Compass Bar also served small plates and fine dining touches — menu items included slow-cooked lamb with mint, Spanish ham and black truffle fried rice, foie gras, and more — blurring the line between bar and elevated bistro. Given the location (40th floor in a business tower), the bar likely catered to evening drinkers, business dinners, cocktail aficionados, and hotel guests. It was often considered a “hidden gem” in Shenzhen’s cocktail bar circuit, with a speakeasy aura — you had to go up to the floor and find the correct suite. However, multiple listings now mark The Compass Bar as “Closed / 已歇业”. DiningCity labels it “Closed” in their map listing. Some social media (Instagram) retains a presence under “compassbycurator” showing the old address and branding. If active, the bar’s draw would have been in its ambiance, drink craftsmanship (especially baijiu cocktails), and elevated service. But as of current public information, it seems no longer operating in the same capacity.
