Alcatraz Tapas Bar
Alcatraz Tapas Bar in Brussels delivers a unique dining experience by transforming a former warehouse into a prison-themed venue. Located along the Brussels canal at Koolmijnenkaai 36 quai des Charbonnages in Molenbeek, the bar immerses guests in a setting reminiscent of the infamous Alcatraz prison. Upon entry, visitors walk through a narrow corridor detailing Alcatraz's history, pass an electric chair, and find themselves among barbed wire, prison bars, and portraits of notorious criminals like Al Capone. The seating area, dubbed "death row," features cells where patrons can enjoy their meals, served by staff dressed in orange prison uniforms. The menu offers a variety of tapas—referred to as "tapraz"—alongside cocktails with legal-themed names, salads, sandwiches, ice cream, milkshakes (some with alcohol), beer, wine, and spirits. Adding to the prison ambiance, each cell includes a roll of toilet paper instead of napkins. Despite the theme, the atmosphere remains light and inviting, with ample lighting ensuring a comfortable dining experience. Alcatraz Tapas Bar is open daily from 11:00 AM to 2:00 AM, providing a distinctive spot for both locals and tourists seeking an unconventional night out.
